Spiced Applesauce Bread

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Butter Softened
  • 1/2 Cup White sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Brown sugar
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 Cup Applesauce Can substitute 1/2 with smashed ripe banana
  • 1 3/4 Cup All purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground allspice
  • 1 Cup Pecans Chopped
  • 1/2 Cup Raisins
  • 1 Apple or pear Finely diced
  • Crumble Topping:
  • 2 Tablespoons Cold butter
  • 1 Tablespoon Brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Flour
  • 1/4 Cup Pecans Finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x5 loaf pan and set aside.
  2. Cream together the butter and sugars. Add eggs into butter one at a time, mixing well between each egg.
  3. Add vanilla and applesauce and mix well.
  4. Sift together all dry ingredients, then add to butter mixture. Mix well. Fold in pecans, raisins and apple.
  5. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
  6. In separate bowl make topping with
  7. - 2 Tablespoons cold butter
  8. - 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
  9. - 1 Tablespoon flour
  10. - 1/4 cup chopped pecans.
  11. Cut the butter into the dry ingredients until it is crumbly. Sprinkle over batter in pan.
  12. Bake for 60 minutes until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
  13. Let cool 5 minutes in pan, then remove to cooling rack to complete cooling.
