Spiced Applesauce Bread
Ingredients
- 1/2 Cup Butter Softened
- 1/2 Cup White sugar
- 1/2 Cup Brown sugar
- 2 Large Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1 Cup Applesauce Can substitute 1/2 with smashed ripe banana
- 1 3/4 Cup All purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground allspice
- 1 Cup Pecans Chopped
- 1/2 Cup Raisins
- 1 Apple or pear Finely diced
- Crumble Topping:
- 2 Tablespoons Cold butter
- 1 Tablespoon Brown sugar
- 1 Tablespoon Flour
- 1/4 Cup Pecans Finely chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x5 loaf pan and set aside.
- Cream together the butter and sugars. Add eggs into butter one at a time, mixing well between each egg.
- Add vanilla and applesauce and mix well.
- Sift together all dry ingredients, then add to butter mixture. Mix well. Fold in pecans, raisins and apple.
- Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
- In separate bowl make topping with
- - 2 Tablespoons cold butter
- - 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
- - 1 Tablespoon flour
- - 1/4 cup chopped pecans.
- Cut the butter into the dry ingredients until it is crumbly. Sprinkle over batter in pan.
- Bake for 60 minutes until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
- Let cool 5 minutes in pan, then remove to cooling rack to complete cooling.
