Fruit Crumble

Ingredients

  • 575 grams Cooking apples (3) in 1cm slices
  • 2 tablespoons Caster sugar (for the fruit)
  • 175 grams Plain flour
  • 110 grams Caster sugar
  • 110 grams Butter
  • 1 tablespoon Rolled oats (optional for the topping)
  • 1 tablespoon Demerara sugar (optional for the topping)
  • Cream or custard to serve

Instructions

  1. 1) Heat oven to 190C/170C fan/Gas 5.
  2. 2) Toss apples in 2 tbsp sugar and put in 23cm round/20cm square & 5cm deep dish.
  3. 3) Pulse blend sugar, butter and flour until like breadcrumbs.
  4. 4) Pour crumble over the fruit, even out, and firm down.
  5. 5) Sprinkle over the oats and demerara if using.
  6. 6) Bake for 35/40 minutes until golden.
