Apple Crumble Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 x apples
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp sugar (white or brown)
  • 1/2 cup plain flour
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon or mixed spice
  • 4 tbsp coconut
  • 4 tbsp rolled oats
  • 2 tbsp sugar (white or brown)

Instructions

  1. peel, core and slice apples into a saucepan.
  2. add water and 2 tablespoons of sugar.
  3. Cook gently with lid until tender.
  4. place into a greased pie or cake tin.
  5. In a bowl rub together butter and flour with fingertips.
  6. Add sugar.
  7. Add cinnamon or/and spice, coconut and rolled oats.
  8. sprinkle topping over cooked apples.
  9. Bake in moderate (200 degrees) oven for 30 minutes, or until browned.
  10. Serve hot with either, ice-cream, cream, custard or caramel.
  11. If you want to try something different, instead of adding apples you can choose to make it with apricots, peaches or rhubarb.
